Dr. Carmen Caelian
Registered Psychologist
Dr. Carmen Caelian is a Registered Psychologist who works with children, adolescents, and their families. She completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at UBC and her residency at BC Children’s Hospital and Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children. She is trained as a Qualified Specialist through the BC Autism Assessment Network (BCAAN) to offer assessments for Autism Spectrum Disorders. She also provides psychoeducational and developmental assessments (e.g., to assess for giftedness, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, and other complex neurodevelopmental issues).
Dr. Caelian also offers empirically-supported treatment services to children and adolescents experiencing a range of difficulties. Therapy is collaborative in nature and uses primarily a cognitive-behavioural approach (CBT). Dr. Caelian accepts referrals for clients experiencing anxiety, mood and adjustment difficulties, tic disorders, and behavioural issues. She uses CBT, specifically Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Treatment for tic disorders follows CBIT (Comprehensive Behavioural Intervention for Tics).

Dr. Daphné Dokis
Registered Psychologist
Dr. Daphné Dokis is a Registered Psychologist who works with children, adolescents, and their families. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Lifespan Psychology from the University of Victoria. She completed her residency training with Alberta Health Services where she developed expertise supporting families with ADHD and other challenging behaviours. Dr. Dokis uses evidence-based strategies that draw from a family-centred approach to help children, adolescents and their parents in her assessment and treatment roles. In her treatment role, she helps children and youth who struggle with worries, depression, and regulating emotions. She helps parents develop strategies to more effectively manage children with difficult behaviours. She helps families to communicate, problem solve, and resolve conflicts more effectively. In her assessment work, Dr. Dokis completes assessments with children and adolescents to evaluate their learning, social and emotional concerns.

Dr. Dina McConnell
Registered Psychologist
Dr. Dina McConnell is a Registered Psychologist who has been working with children and families for twenty years. She completed her M.A.Sc. at the University of Waterloo, where the focus of her training was on psychological assessment, and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at York University. She trained at Mt. Sinai Hospital (Toronto) and University Hospital (Vancouver), specializing in clinical neuropsychology. She has worked extensively with children with a wide variety of medical, psychological and psychiatric conditions that can affect learning, behaviors, school performance and mental health. Additionally, Dr. McConnell has been on staff at BC Children’s Hospital since 1996 where she consults primarily to the Division of Oncology. As a psychologist and a parent, she is keenly aware of the many demands and expectations on families and schools. As such, her goal is to provide easy to understand evaluations that contain useful recommendations tailored for your child or adolescent.
Dr. McConnell performs Independent Medical-legal Evaluations for children and adolescents who have sustained a brain injury.

Dr. Mandy Chen
Registered Psychologist
Dr. Mandy Chen received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Toronto, and her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of British Columbia. She completed her pre-doctoral residency at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, and a post-doctoral research fellowship in the department of Pediatrics at UBC. In the past ten years, Dr. Chen has worked with families of children and adolescents with a wide range of psychological needs (e.g., developmental delay, learning difficulties, anxiety, depression, history of abuse and neglect, behavior problems, weight management) in a variety of settings (i.e., pediatric hospital, university clinic, community mental health centers). She worked for many years as a clinical psychologist at BC Children’s Hospital before entering private practice in 2014.
Dr. Chen provides:
- Therapy services to children and adolescents who are dealing with depressed mood, anxiety disorders, and behavioral problems;
- Parent consultation to enhance parent-child relationship as well as parenting effectiveness; and
- Psychoeducational and psychodiagnostic assessment for children and adolescents to clarify learning challenges, and/or to better understand how a child’s learning profile may be related to his/her mental health issues.
Dr. Chen is fluent in both English and Mandarin-Chinese, and provides therapy and assessment in both languages. She employs empirically-supported treatment approaches, and is collaborative and client-centered in her practice. Dr. Chen is also a resource contributor for AnxietyBC, and regularly gives talks in schools and the community to increase public awareness and knowledge of childhood anxiety.

陳瑤珉醫師持有多倫多大學心理學學士學位及英屬哥倫比亞大學 (UBC) 臨床心理學博士學位,並於畢業後在UBC的兒科醫學院部門完成博士後研究。過去十年中,陳醫師除了在多倫多的病童醫院完成為期一年的駐院實習,並曾在相當多元的機構中(包括兒科醫院,大學診所,社區心理健康中心)協助了許多有各種不同心理輔導需求的兒童和青少年 (例如,發展遲緩,學習困難,焦慮,抑鬱,受虐,行為問題,體重管理)。陳醫師曾在BC兒童醫院擔任心理醫師多年,同時也是AnxietyBC的資源貢獻者,定期在學校和社區舉辦講座,以提高公眾對兒童焦慮的認識和知識。
陳醫師提供:
1)為患有憂鬱情緒,焦慮症,和行為問題的兒童和青少年的治療服務;
2)父母諮詢,以改善親子關係及提升父母在教養上的自信與成效;
3)兒童和青少年的心理教育和心理診斷評估,協助父母及學校釐清孩子在學習方面的障礙,或進一步了解孩子的學習情況與心理問題之間的關聯。
陳醫師能用流利的英語和中文書寫及對話,並使用這兩種語言提供治療和評估。在臨床上,陳醫師非常強調與來看診的父母和孩子建立良好的合作關係,用心傾聽他們的訴求,並且採用具有研究證明的治療方式。

Dr. Annie Hsieh
Registered Psychologist
Dr. Annie Hsieh is a Registered Psychologist who works with children, adolescents and their families. She obtained her Master’s and PhD degrees in Clinical Psychology from Queen’s University and completed her residency in Child Clinical and Pediatric Psychology at Alberta Children’s Hospital. Dr. Hsieh has worked at Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children (BC Children’s Hospital), where she provided diagnostic assessment and program planning for children and adolescents with complex neurodevelopmental, emotional, and behavioural concerns including Autism Spectrum Disorder, prenatal substance exposure (e.g., Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder), Learning Disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Intellectual Disability, Global Developmental Delay, trauma, and attachment issues. She also has worked in a variety of settings including a university counselling centre, youth forensic service, community mental health centres, and hospitals.
Dr. Hsieh is available to complete psychoeducational, psychodiagnostic (including Autism Spectrum Disorder), developmental, and gifted assessments. For treatment, Dr. Hsieh provides Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for individuals with anxiety, mood and adjustment difficulties. As Dr. Hsieh is fluent in English and Mandarin-Chinese, she offers assessment and treatment services in both languages.

謝宜錚博士是位心理醫師,專為兒童及青少年提供心理方面及精神疾病的診斷、評估、及治療。她於加拿大皇后大學臨床心理學系取得碩士及博士學位,在亞伯達省兒童醫院取得兒童臨床及醫療心理學駐院經驗。曾任職於BC省兒童醫院的Sunny Hill Health Centre,為1到19歲有神經發育障礙或複雜情緒行為問題的孩童與青少年提供評估、診斷及輔導計畫 (例如: 自閉症、胎兒酒精中毒綜合症、學習障礙、注意力不足過動症、智力或整體發展障礙、憂鬱症、焦慮症、心理創傷等) 。她擁有豐富多元的臨床經驗,其中包括大學心理輔導中心、少年觀護所、社區心理衛生中心、睡眠中心、腸胃科及內分泌科等。目前主要提供心理教育評估 、精神疾病診斷(包括自閉症類群障礙)、幼童發展評估、資優生鑑定、智力測試。治療方面, 她主要採用 “認知行為治療”來改善心理健康問題如焦慮、憂鬱、自卑、壓力、適應不良。她能說流利的國語及英文。
